Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

This is a scene at Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. I painted this from photographs I took in August 2010. This study was followed by a larger painting of the same scene which I called "Peggy's Cove." I completed the larger painting using more detail and made some changes that I think improved the composition a bit. However, in many ways I like this smaller painting better. It's looser and more spontaneous, and I think I handled the foreground and background elements better than I did in the larger painting. I'm starting to catch onto the message that's often being given to me when I compare my quick studies to some of my more "serious" paintings.

I made my first attempt at painting with oils in 1977 and immediately fell in love with the medium. Since then, I have painted in spurts, often experiencing long periods of inactivity. But once I was exposed to oil painting I have thought about painting almost constantly. After I retired in 1996, I became active in the performing arts as a musician, singer, actor, theater set designer and director. Through all this, I never stopped thinking about painting, and now painting has become my primary creative outlet. I have never had any formal art lessons.
