Description
When I saw the afternoon sun light up this poinsettia on the sideboard in my dining room, I couldn't resist capturing the scene for a painting. My biggest challenge in painting this was to find a red brilliant enough to represent the poinsettia accurately. I got as close as I could to natural red by glazing Alizarin crimson over vermilion.
